As I was thinking back to 1973 I remembered sitting in a class discussing the Middle East.
While the teacher's name escapes me, she told us that we were living in history, all sorts
of things were happening around us that would be shape our future.
Since then, I'd forgotten that Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1973. And while today we take satellites for
granted, it was 1973 when Canada (of all countries) launched the first commercial satellite. The
first US commercial satellite, Western Union's WESTAR I, wasn't launched until April 1974.
